Some treasures aren't found...

They're discovered.

Our Gem Mix Isopods are a delightful gathering of living jewels, each colony filled with an ever-changing tapestry of colors, patterns, and personalities. No two collections are ever the same, making every order feel like opening a tiny treasure chest hidden deep within an enchanted woodland.

As generations grow, new combinations emerge like little surprises from nature itself. Every colony tells its own story, shaped by time, curiosity, and a touch of everyday magic.

Beyond their beauty, these gentle custodians work tirelessly beneath the leaf litter, helping create healthy, balanced bioactive habitats while rewarding curious keepers with endless moments of wonder.

Raised with compassion and exceptional husbandry, every Gem Mix colony is carefully cared for before leaving our home to become part of yours.

Best For

✦ Collectors who love surprises
✦ Bioactive terrariums
✦ Display colonies filled with natural beauty

Diet & Feeding

A varied and abundant diet keeps their colony strong and thriving.

Offer regularly:

  • Fallen leaf litter (oak, magnolia, maple, or other pesticide-free leaves)

  • Soft, decaying hardwood (well-aged and safe sourced)

  • Fish flakes or shrimp pellets (protein for growth and breeding)

  • Dried shrimp or insect-based treats (occasional enrichment)

  • Fresh vegetables (small portions of carrot, zucchini, squash, cucumber)

  • Calcium sources (cuttlebone or crushed eggshell for shell health)

Remove any uneaten fresh food before it returns to the soil.

Starter Enclosure (6 qt Apothecary Setup)

A simple 6-quart vessel is enough to begin a thriving little ecosystem.

You will need a variety of natural hides such as cork bark, sticks, moss, and lichen to create a safe and enriching habitat.

  • 2–3 inches of moisture-balanced substrate
(a living blend of organic topsoil, crushed leaf litter, horticultural charcoal, rotting wood, sphagnum moss, and orchid bark or cork fragments)

Create a gradient of moisture—one side gently damp like forest shadow, the other drier like sunlit bark—so your colony may choose its own comfort as it grows.

You'll Receive

10+ healthy, captive-bred Gem Mix Isopods from our established colonies.

Because each colony is a one-of-a-kind creation of nature, colors, patterns, and markings will always be beautifully unique.

"Every colony holds a little piece of magic waiting to be discovered."
